Please keep your pet indoors the night before surgery.
If your cat is an outdoor cat, please confine them to an indoor space eg. A shed.
Your pet may have water until 8am.
Dogs should be brought out on a lead to go to the toilet on the morning of their surgery.
Please present your pet for admission to the clinic between 9am and 9.15am.
Please have your dog on a lead and your cat in a secure cat carrier.
Post-Operation Instructions:
In most routine cases, your pet will go home the same day as their surgery.
Following the operation, you may find it could take several days for your pet to return to full activity.
This evening, your pet may be a little sleepy, so ensure you keep them indoors in a warm and comfortable bed, located in a quiet area of your home.
You can feed your pet a smaller amount of their food when you get home. You may find they are not interested in food but by morning, they should be eating as normal.
You may also notice your pet is slow to pass faeces in the first two/three days post-surgery. This is normal.
We recommend you keep your pet strictly confined for a period of 10 days. Restricted exercise/short walks on the lead are permitted with NO running, swimming, jumping, baths or trips to groomers.
If your pet has been advised to wear a buster collar, please do so for the stated period of time.
You will be advised when your next check-up is due. It is important that you keep this appointment as your pet may or may not have external sutures to be removed.
You may be sent home with medication. It is important you follow the instructions given.
Failure to follow all of the above instructions may result in delayed healing, which may require additional treatment at the owners expense.
