Pet Passport in Longford
Looking for a Vet to help you get a Pet Passport in Longford? Emma Plant Veterinary Hospital (A.K.A. Happy & Healthy) are here to help.
It’s the Law!
A Pet Passport is a legal document required to travel within the EU.
The Process
A Pet Passport can be issued by Emma Plant Veterinary Hospital to a pet that is microchipped. All countries within EU also require your pet to be fully vaccinated against Rabies. This also can be done here at our Veterinary Hospital. If you require more information on acquiring a passport please give us a call.
Each country has their own requirements to bring animals in. Our advice is to consult the Department of Agriculture for each country to know what they require.

Sample Requirements
An example for Britain as attained from their website is as follows:
You can enter or return to Great Britain with your pet cat, dog or ferret if it:
- has been microchipped
has a pet passport or health certificate - has been vaccinated against rabies – it will also need a blood test if you’re travelling from an country that is not ‘listed’
- Dogs must also usually have a tapeworm treatment.
Your pet may be put into quarantine for up to 4 months if you do not follow these rules – or refused entry if you travelled by sea. You’re responsible for any fees or charges. This information was correct at time of publishing-please always check requirements before embarking on a journey.
